For the love of Paws
It all started in…
1999, this was the year I started looking after the little paws indoors around London, Hi my name is Patricia!
I was part of a twosome that popped round to play with cats and feed them within the “cat nanny” business. The lady that introduced me to the joy of paws was the mum of my school best friend. We would go around by a word of mouth only, I would help out throughout the year while studying at university. I have over 25 years experience of cat nannying for more than 29 clients. I am very reliable and most of my clients are from personal recommendations.
I used to work in an office most days but prefer playing (occasionally on all fours) with little paws. I love animals, especially cats and each cat that I have met over the years I have loved as if they were my own.
I love the fact that when you come in each cat with their own attitude welcomes you into their home like they would a member of the family. Archie for example is a what I call a gentleman cat. He will come to see who you are then walk off, as if to say “you’re here, I like you … see you later” he’s not too much for the stroking but will come and sit near you in peace. Millie on the other hand sees you enter the gate and meets you at the door with meows that say “Hi, you’re here! Where have you been? I’m so happy, stroke me” We will have a 2 second conversation before she lets me get through the door.
It’s the idea that owners can go away on holiday or to do something important, while knowing that their loved ones aren’t alone. I understand the responsibility, respect and importance that is required of me when I step through your front door. From the moment I say “hi” to your little paw to the moment I send you the text that says “I’m leaving now, we had an awesome time together and they’re looking forward to you walking through that door tonight.”
I am taking on dog clients, I have come to appreciate them with great affection since spending time with a working dog called Valiant, some socialising puppies and a growly - but harmless bull dog named Marley. This of course will depend on our compatibility. I like to work on the premise that the pet needs to be happy with me, thus I meet with the pet and mum/dad at least twice before the initial stay.
The house sitting has been running for over 8 years. I believe it’s an added comfort to know that not only will your loved one get round the clock care (if that’s the service required), but also it is good to know that the house is being maintained and cared for too.
